I thought i’d drop you a little update about how the sponsorship is coming along. I’m spending plenty of time writing letter, sending emails and making phone calls to try and secure the best sponsorship partners I can find.
As most of you who follow me on social media know, I was recently approached out of the blue by Fitbit, who, have been kind enough to send me some lovely running watches to assist with my training leading up to the start line! Not only that, but they are letting me write some extra blogs for their website to help bring out some exposure, which is a huge bonus. I will be doing a little review of the watches in the next few months so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Now for the new sponsors! I’d like to officially introduce and thank Out’n’About and Omnicharge to the CornerToCorner team! Now im sure that both of these names probably mean nothing to you, but they are actually some of the most important sponsors of the journey. Out’n’About create pushchairs and have an amazing line of them dedicated to parents who love to run. After months of searching I finally decided that they made the perfect buggy for what i needed. It has suspension, 3 huge durable wheels, adjustable handle, brakes, rain covers, pretty much everything that I need in my cart. Obviously I will be making some changes to the cart as i’ll be carrying equipment and supplies and not a baby! The main charge will be to add some more storage space underneath and inside. I will be picking up the buggy in April along with some spare wheels and slimed tires to prevent punctures, once I get back to Austria with it, I will fill you in with a nice blog post on what the buggy will be like and what i’ll be doing to prepare for its 4,200 mile journey across the States!
The second sponsor this month is a company called Omnicharge. The create compact yet very powerful power banks which can charge a multitude of items simultaneously, whether it be from USB or a plug socket. Once again, a very very important piece of my running kit as I do not want my phone or GPS to run out of battery in the middle of nowhere! Im sure you are wondering how I will charge them when I am camping most of the way, well, solar panels. I intend to put one flexible solar panel into the sun hood of the buggy so that whenever I am running I can be charging the power banks. Omnicharge are currently working on designing a solar panel that works seamlessly with the power banks, so fingers crossed they are ready for the start line! They have been kind enough to even send me one out to train with, this should hopefully be arriving around March time. So when the winter is over expect a nice lengthy blog post about mountain camping with power!
This is only a small post today, I’m hoping to have some more exciting partnerships sorted in the next month. It is getting very exciting now everything is coming together. I’ll be writing a christmas training blog this week so make sure you are on my social media so you don’t miss it!
